2021 Council President's Report

Dear Members and Friends of Christ Lutheran Church

“We know Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)

Take that, 2021!  While this past year wasn’t without challenge or change, our hope remains in Jesus - the one who continues to lead us faithfully forward.

In the spring, Pastor Garrett and staff thoughtfully navigated our joyful return to indoor, in-person gatherings.  Many of our favorite events throughout the year, once prevented by the pandemic, were successfully hosted and opportunities for outreach and service were relaunched.  Council is grateful to Pastor Garrett for his faithful leadership and guidance through this complicated time.  He has consistently reminded us of our mission together.

At the Vision Summit in October, Pastor Garrett shared our updated mission statement: To guide people into growing union with Christ.  He also laid out our vision for the next 5 years: Through Meaningful Worship, Genuine Community, Formative Prayer, and Generous Living we will intentionally cultivate faith along the path of life.

The call is to vibrantly live out the mission and to make the vision an exciting reality.

Thankfully, in 2022, there is much about which to be excited.

There will be meaningful worship, faithful Bible Studies, new Covenant Groups, a lively VBS, active Children/Student/Family Ministries, spiritual retreats, seasonal festivals, engaging fellowship opportunities and more…

We will also welcome Matthew Kolden as our new Associate Pastor.  He will start his ministry with us mid-summer.  As a congregation, we are delighted to take this step forward in our life together with Matt and his lovely wife, Sarah.

Finally, we have a special milestone to celebrate!  Christ Lutheran Church’s 60th anniversary is on October 16th!  This is a great opportunity to tell the story of what God has done through us, even as we speak to what He is yet to do!

On behalf of the Council, may God’s love and peace be with you in 2022.

Following Him,

Heidi Metlen
