The desert is not often thought of as a place of beauty, except, perhaps, for those people who like emptiness, unrelenting wind, the occasional crawly thing, and wild swings in temperature. But this year is different, if only for a fleeting few weeks.
“These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand…I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.” Revelation 2:1, 4-5
I was reading through the opening chapters of the Book of Revelation this morning, in which John, in the Spirit, delivers some hard words and harsh judgment on various churches in his day. The above words come from that section.
