Dear Members and Friends of Christ Lutheran

Letter from Todd LeGassick

Dear Members and Friends of Christ Lutheran Church,

At this point last year, I wrote about welcoming Pastor Garrett, his wife Kristi, and their newborn son, Paul.  We did that in March… in the middle of a pandemic!  While we all know they arrived safely, much has happened since then.  After saying goodbye to Pastors Joe and Mike, we were met with the ongoing challenges of the pandemic as well as protests and politics.  Despite so much to separate us from God and from each other, we were called to find innovative means to meet together as a community, and we embraced these new avenues of worship in incredible ways.

Pastor Garrett and the staff navigated our coming together as the Church to worship God, first online, then in person and online, and now online and outdoors.  Council is incredibly grateful for Pastor Garrett’s spiritual leadership and guidance during this time.  He has and continues to preach the Good News, challenging us to be the best version of ourselves in Christ, and reminding of us of the unending hope in our Lord and Savior.

Council welcomed Pastor Garrett’s thumb print on the vision, mission, and goals and he has breathed new life into the future of CLC by landing on three concrete themes: meaningful worship, authentic community, and generous living.  Council has asked him to work with staff to create measurable quarterly goals that align with our mission and these themes.  At the same time, CLC said goodbye to a few staff members and greeted others, which is expected when leadership changes.

As we look forward to 2021, we continue to be reminded that God has this — and in fact, everything — in His hands as He created it all.  Our job is simply to be faithful to His plans for each of us and Christ Lutheran Church.  To that end, we’re planning to call an Associate Pastor to our congregation this year.  There is also much more in store for us as we look forward to the growth of our digital ministries, the easing of gathering restrictions, the increased availability of vaccines in the near future, and most importantly, the hope in Christ our Lord.

On behalf of the 2020 Council, we wish you God’s peace and blessings to you and your family in 2021.

In His Name,

Todd LeGassick
