Our prayer focus this week: Jesus Loves His Church.
God's promises on which you can rely, as you pray throughout the week:
Thursday: Jesus is the head of the church, so we stand in his power and not our own. Colossians 1:18 New International Version (NIV)
18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the first born from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.
Friday: Power exists when a church prays. Acts 12 selected verses
5 So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.
6 The night before Herod was to bring him to trial... an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.
11 Then Peter came to himself and said, “Now I know without a doubt that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from Herod’s clutches...”
Saturday: God will be glorified through his church. Ephesians 3:20-21
20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
Sunday: Jesus dwells among us in the church. Ephesians 2:19-22
19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
Monday: God's special love and promised provision for his church. Ephesians 5:25
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
Tuesday: As the church, we are Christ's body. To neglect the church is to neglect Christ's own body. Ephesians 5:29-30
29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body.
Wednesday: God will carry on the good work he has begun. Philippians 1:6
6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
This week, focus your prayer on:
Pray that the Holy Spirit would renew, restore and revive passion for the Savior and his ministry within each individual heart.
Pray for others who may have "forgotten their first love" and ask the Spirit to reignite that love.
Ask the Spirit to create in CLC an unrestrained longing for Jesus, and to serve him. Ask God to pour out his Spirit upon us, bank up what embers are glowing, and kindle an explosive renewal of our first love across the face of this congregation.
Each day, end your personal prayer time with this prayer we will all pray together throughout the week:
Father, in the name of Jesus release greater fire in this, your, church so we can accomplish your will. Cause this fire to spread in my life and those around me. Amen.
