Reheboam: Whips? Scorpions? Whips with Scorpions?

Theme: Reheboam is Solomon’s son and has inherited none of his good judgement and all of his bad judgement. His impetuous actions as king split the kingdom and echoed down through the ages.

What do we do with power? We don’t have the powers of a king, but we do wield power in our jobs and families

How do we respond to unjust powers in our life? We deal with crappy bosses and others with power over our lives every day. What does the Bible say about our response? 

Stumbling Blocks #4 Biblical Literalism

People like to play the card of pulling out some obscure/problem verse (eating shellfish, wearing mixed fibers, stoning people) and saying that if you don’t believe/live up to that, then you can’t believe the rest of the Bible or follow a moral code based on the Bible. So how do we separate these things and find a way to live in Holiness.
